Spathiphyllum Peace Lily

The Spathiphyllum, colloquially recognized as the Peace Lily, proudly originates from the lush tropical regions of Central and South America, specifically thriving in Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil’s verdant rainforests. Its story begins in the heart of these rich landscapes, where the German botanist Gustav Wallis first discovered it, a pioneering explorer who recognized the plant’s unique attributes in the mid-nineteenth century.

FAQ

When the top inch (2.5 cm) of soil seems dry to the touch, water your Peace Lily. Watering frequency might vary depending on elements such as temperature, humidity, and pot size. Overwatering should be avoided because Peace Lilies are prone to root rot.

Overwatering, underwatering, or exposure to high temperatures can all cause yellowing leaves on a Peace Lily. Check the soil moisture and alter your watering schedule as needed. Make sure the plant is not exposed to cold drafts or excessive heat, since both might cause stress and discoloration.

Peace Lilies bloom best in situations that include bright, indirect light and steady moisture. Maintain a regular watering regimen and make sure your plant gets enough light. Providing a balanced fertilizer during the growth season might also encourage flower production.

Yes, the bathroom can be a good place for a Peace Lily. Bathrooms frequently have greater humidity levels, which the plant enjoys. Just make sure it gets some indirect light, as positioning it too far away from any light source may stunt its growth.

If your Peace Lily outgrows its current container or becomes too huge for its surroundings, you can repot it into a little larger container using a well-draining potting mix. If required, prune back any overgrown foliage and continue to supply it with the essential care.

Ingestion of Peace Lilies is hazardous to pets. Calcium oxalate crystals in the plant can cause mouth irritation, drooling, and stomach discomfort. If you have curious pets, keep Peace Lilies out of reach of them or use pet-friendly plant alternatives.

Peace Lilies can be multiplied through division. When repotting, divide the plant into smaller portions, making sure that each section contains roots and foliage. Plant the divisions in their own pots, water them, and care for them as you would a mature Peace Lily.
Remember that individual care needs may differ, therefore it's always a good idea to study your plant and adapt your care regimen as needed.

Better than I'd hoped
I wanted two fairly rare plants. Prefer to choose my own of course, but no one had them. Jungle Collective did, online, so despite mixed reviews I ordered them, to pick up from a pop-up pick-up place. Well, the pop-up was cancelled and I couldn't reach anyone to see what was happening. Understandable - this IS a small business, not Flower Power. But they said they'd be in touch so I waited and they were, and the next day the plants were delivered, beautiful and in perfect condition! (I didn't request or pay for delivery.) And when I say the plants are beautiful - I mean beautiful. They're larger than I hoped, well established, healthy and full of leaves, and one has three plants in the pot. They're putting out new leaves already, 3 weeks later. So, excellent plants, very good prices and considerate service. Based on my experience I recommend Jungle Collective without reservation.
