Here we take a look at the Dracaena Plant Types. The Dracaena Family, by many plant family standards is not huge with around 120 recognised species. They are mostly native to Africa but are also found in South Asia, Northern Australia and Central America. The family recently grew with DNA research indicating that Sansevieria are in fact also Dracaenas so the name was changed in 2016. For the purpose of this exploration we’ve kept ‘Sansevierias’ off this family exploration and have made a post for them seperately here – Snake Plant Types. Dracaena Species are generally fairly low maintenance, although some species are tropical while others are found in arid environments and are much more drought tolerant. Generally speaking they make good indoor plants, especially the Tropical varieties. We hope this exploration of the Dracaena Family and if you enjoy don’t forget to share!
