Top 10 tips if your plants died over the holidays from neglect!

Appearance can be deceiving, so even if a plant looks dead, it may not be. Try these tips
to revive your precious plant instead of throwing it away.

1. Look for signs of life

Find out if the plant is actually dead first. It may look like your plant is a goner, but
when you take a closer look, that may not actually be the case. If there’s any green left on the plant, you might
still be in business. If the stem and roots are soft and fragile, the tree is dead and cannot be saved.

2. Check if you’ve overwatered

Plants need water to survive and grow, but you may have given them too much water.
Overwatered plants will look wilted. It can also have brown or yellow leaves that look dead while the surrounding
soil is wet. If your plant is dying because you overwater it, the best solution is to replant it on drier soil.

3. Check if you’ve underwatered

Just like overwatering, it’s also easy to underwater—and for many people, it is a
possible scenario. Obvious signs that your plant is thirsty include dry brown leaves around the edges or curled up.
The soil around the roots will also dry out completely. If your plant is dying because you don’t give it enough
water, the solution is obvious: water it

4. Trim Back the Dead Parts

Worsening plants will likely have dead leaves and you will need to remove them. It is
important to remove the dead parts so that the plant can use all its energy on the living parts.

5. Trim back the stems

If the stem is completely dead but the roots of the plant are still alive, do not cut
the dead stem back to the roots. Leave about five centimeters of the stem intact above the ground. When you
manage to revive the tree, new growth will sprout from these trunks. This is also a good time to change the soil
and even the pot. At this time, it is advisable to repot the plant in a larger container or pot.

6. Consider your lighting situation

Many plants do not like too much sun. In fact, some houseplants thrive in low light.
If your plant gets too much sun, it will dry out its leaves with black or white spots. So, how do you revive a
tree that gets too much sun? Prune the foliage, move the plant to a shady spot with high humidity, and water it
abundantly.

7. Find a humid spot

Watering alone may not be enough to help your plant recover if it’s dried out,
especially if you tend to forget to water regularly. Move it to a damp place, away from direct sunlight. The
plant will then absorb moisture through its leaves and at the same time beautify your bathroom.

8. Feed your plant carefully

You may want to give your plants a boost with some fertilizer, but don’t do it
right away. When plants are in trouble, fertilizer can damage those tender roots. Wait until the tree
recovers.

9. Wait at least a month

It takes a while to almost kill your plant and it will take a while to recover.
It is important to be patient. Continue caring for your plant for a few weeks, then reassess.

10. Compost it

If you’ve tried everything and your plant hasn’t made any progress, it might be
time to say goodbye. But instead of throwing your dead plant in the trash, put it in the compost bin. When
you compost your plants, even if they are dead, the rest can be turned into nutrient-rich soil that acts as
a natural fertilizer that can benefit the crops. in another home or your garden.
