The Ficus Plant Family also known commonly as Figs or Fig Trees are home to some of Houseplants big hitters! What’s bigger than the Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus Lyrata) or the Rubber Tree (Ficus Elastica) and then there’s new kids on the block Ficus Umbellata, Ficus Deltoides and Ficus Audrey? The general characteristics that have made the Ficus Plant Family so popular as Indoor Plants is their big juicy leaves, tolerance to relatively low light conditions, woody tree like forms and relatively low maintenance. But of course it’s a big family and not all fit this mould, in fact there are over 850 species of Ficus, some producing fruit, some are only outdoor plants only, while others like the Ficus Pumila are a tiny leaved climber, World’s apart from its Woody Tree-like relatives. But there are also many species lesser known.
