Trandescantia will do best in a position where there is lots of bright indirect light. 

I’ve found that a bit of dappled morning sun for a few hours a day (eg. in an east facing window) can actually be really good for this plant. (n.b. plants can get a shock if they’re taken from protected positions straight into brighter sun, so transition her gradually into a brighter spot in your home).

It’s important to keep up a regular watering routine. In summer you want to keep the soil relatively moist but let the top half of the pot dry between waterings. To monitor this, you can use your finger to poke into the top few cms of potting mix and feel the soil moisture level before watering. If it feels wet, let it dry out for longer. Over watering can lead to fungal issues or root rot. Check the soil moisture once a week, and water if necessary. During winter, when the plant isn’t in an active growing phase you should reduce watering frequency and try to use tepid/room temperature water. 

As with all plants, drainage is essential. Ensure that whatever vessel your plant is in, there are sufficient holes in the bottom to allow excess water to freely drain from the pot and away from the plant’s roots.

Pinch out the growing tips on your tradescantia regularly to promote compact bushy growth. If your plant has become long and spindly you can give her a good prune to bring her back to a more dense form.
