Callisia Rosato / Callisia Repens Introduction

The Callisia Rosato or Callisia Repens, also known as the Pink Panther Plant or Pink Lady is famous for it’s dense pink foliage. It can be sensitive to overwatering but otherwise is a fairly low maintenance plant that grows quicky and propagates easily.

Callisia Rosato/ Callisia Repens Lighting & Position

Callisia will do best in a position where there is lots of bright indirect light.

I’ve found that a bit of dappled morning sun for a few hours a day (eg. in an east facing window) can actually be really good for this plant. (n.b. plants can get a shock if they’re taken from protected positions straight into brighter sun, so transition her gradually into a brighter spot in your home).

Callisia Rosato/ Callisia Repens Watering

Because Callisia is semi-succulent, she doesn’t need too much water. Soak the soil thoroughly when watering, then make sure to let the top 5-10cm of soil dry out completely before watering again. If you are potting up, use a potting mix suitable for cacti/succulents.

As with all plants, drainage is essential. Ensure that whatever vessel your plant is in, there are sufficient holes in the bottom to allow excess water to freely drain from the pot and away from the plant’s roots.

Callisia Rosato/ Callisia Repens Fertiliser

Feed with liquid fertiliser monthly over the warm, growing period and not at all over the cooler winter months.

We recommend using our Plant Food available here

Callisia Rosato/ Callisia Repens Extra Tips

Pinch out the growing tips on your Callisia regularly to promote compact bushy growth. If your plant has become long and spindly you can prune her back to a compact ball shape and she will regrow.

Callisia Rosato/ Callisia Repens Toxicity

This plant might cause an allergic reaction in pets causing skin, eye or mouth irritation so keep it out of reach of your furry friends!
